Shitake Mushroom Log Workshop

Workshops start promptly at 6pm
Did you ever want to learn how to grow your own mushrooms? Especially the tasty Shitake mushroom?Join us at Hsu Growing Supply to learn about growing your own mushrooms. We will teach you how to select logs, how to drill the logs, what species of mushrooms will work well for you, and how to fill the logs. This hands on workshop will give you the confidence to go out and create your own mushroom garden. We will also talk about other forms of mushroom growing that can be done right in your own home even in the depth of winter.All supplies and equipment will be provided so that each attendee will take home an inoculated mushroom log with them. You will be making your own inoculated log, so you will have a head start on many years of tasty, edible mushrooms. Workshop fee is $25 per person.
Additional logs will be available for sale that evening for $15 each.
Grape Care Workshop
With Hunter Vanalstyne

Do you have a grape vine that you don’t know what to do with? Do they grow like a weed, but never have many grapes? These and many more questions about grape culture can be answered at a workshop at Hsu Growing Supply. Hunter Vanalstyne of H&M Farms has lots of knowledge to share with beginning and midlevel growers of grape vines. Basic grape care and knowledge of disease and insect problems will be discussed. We will look at an existing grape area and see how trellising can work.
Attendees will leave with a comfort level of basic grape growing and a great resource pamphlet to refer back to. This will be Saturday time well spent.

Apple Grafting Workshop

Have you ever wondered how apple grafting works, or wanted to try it yourself? Do you have a favorite tree variety that you would like to keep growing in some form? Join us at Hsu for a hands on apple grafting workshop. You will learn not only all about apple grafting, but also basic apple culture. Norm has spent years perfecting his techniques and will share great shortcuts and ideas to succeed in this fun process.
Each attendee will go home not only with knowledge and literature on culture of apples, but also with 2 grafted trees that you did yourself under the tutelage of Norm.
